To escape the city on the weekend of the 15th of September,
Matt Semel, Scott Butler, Jack
Lillburn, and I went on a camping trip to the Catskills. I had never
been to the Catskills before (only the Adirondacks), but now I am looking
forward to going back.
After one aborted attempt at climbing High Peak via Sleepy Hollow (yes
the land of Rip Van Winkle) we opted to explore the North
and South Lake Area. We found good camping and easy hiking with spectacular
views of the Hudson Valley.

The first trail we tried
to hike was a disaster. Matt and Jack almost got into a fight. |

Here we are at Newman's
Ledge. The Hudson River is somewhere in the smog behind us. |

Matt and Scott. The overhang
is pretty high up so we're all maintaining a low profile in these
shots. |
